The instance covered in the material confirms that the Chinese government poses a considerable threat to American pro-democracy activists and their right to free speech. American law recognizes the authorities’ actions as illegal, and they should not be tolerated. A clear violation of the First Amendment, which protects the right to free speech, would occur if China were permitted to impose its viewpoints on people in the United States. Furthermore, enabling China to have a role in how Americans express themselves would be a breach of American sovereignty and should be rejected.

Citizens of Chinese descent who peacefully showed their support for democracy in the United States have been the target of transnational repression by the Chinese government. Human rights are clearly being violated by this, and it should not be accepted or condoned. Furthermore, it’s crucial to remember that the Chinese government has been employing troll farms to sow discord on social media (“40 officers of China’s national police,” 2023, para. 5). By these means, authorities intend to promote their interests and manipulate the U.S. policies and regulations with raised topics for heated debate. The range of them covers the advantages of China’s current political system over democracy, U.S. domestic and foreign policy, human rights issues in Hong Kong and the Xinjiang Province, and other issues (Lucas, 2023, para. 15). The United States should not permit this kind of interference. The repercussions of the Chinese government’s actions, if they are authorized, may be extensive.

Consequently, the final verdict lies in disapproving the Chinese government’s intrusion into U.S. politics. Otherwise, approval threatens to lead to accepting comparable actions that the authoritarian regimes encourage. This wrong decision will also undermine the country’s potential to safeguard its citizens from persecution and set a dangerous precedent by letting foreign regimes operate freely there.
